Lockdown

So, we are on our fifth week of Lockdown, who would have ever thought this would ever have happened! It's been a strange five weeks since we closed the doors to the salon, feelings of loss, uncertainty, and not having any idea as to when we will return. And of course we still don't.

It's certainly been a time of adjustment and a time to reflect on what's important, No 1 being our health and wellbeing.

Staying positive throughout all of this is so important, most of us have been let off the work treadmill for a little while and as strange as it may seem, isn't it nice to have a slightly slower pace to life and take a bit of time out for ourselves?

We now have more time to do the mundane things that we don't like, for me it's taking care of my garden, certainly not a job I enjoy doing, why? Because I’d have to make time to do it at the weekend, when there are other housekeeping jobs to do which i'm sure you can all relate to, along with work related jobs. There never seemed to be enough time in the day, however I have to say I am quite enjoying carrying out menial tasks and the beautiful weather has certainly made a difference.

We have more time to appreciate our friends and family, via the amazing means of modern technology, admittedly it's not quite the same as seeing them in person, but how often would you see them in your normal day to day life?

In this strange time we have taken time to appreciate our NHS service by standing outside along with our neighbours, clapping, banging pots and pans, bibbing horns, all to celebrate the outstanding work they do, to celebrate our key workers the people who make the things we take for granted happen, who knew this could stir so much emotion and bring a country together all at the same time!

And seeing all the beautiful rainbows in peoples windows as a tribute to our amazing health care workers, I think it's safe to say that we are all immensely grateful.

Taking care of ourselves and staying healthy is also really important, taking regular exercise, runs, walks etc. We have been so lucky with the weather and what better way of boosting our vitamin D levels! Vitamin D is so essential to helping our immune system to stay healthy.

Having more sleep! Now how many of us always pressed the snooze button in the morning? Most of us now have the flexibility to have a little lay in.

Spending more quality time with your children and I’m sure most of the parents would agree they REALLY appreciate the teachers!

Doing that all important conditioning treatment on our hair that we never normally get the time to do. Using amazing hair repair products such as Olaplex, Moroccan oil masks, Copyright by Tigi boosters, these will all help add shine, smoothness and restore your hair's condition, all available from the salon, please contact us if anyone has any queries.

Learning something new, whether that's learning a new language, cooking new recipes, reading, practising mindfulness or starting that new fitness regime, what better time than now to do it.

The thing about this, is that we all have time to re-evaluate and reflect, what can we improve? And what can we do without?

The gratitude of having a home that's safe, being healthy and being able to still have some freedom, but, only by following the guidelines can we fight this, together.

Moving forward from this our lives may be slightly different once we are able to resume some 'normality', which I’ve thought about a lot lately in regards to our valued staff and clients and the salon. I want everyone to feel safe upon our return, what guidelines are put in place we will adhere to, Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) will be provided if necessary to both our valued staff and clients. I personally want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and enjoys the experience when having their hair done, it is a treat after all.

All appointments have been left in the diary, and some of you may have already seen the priority list post on Instagram and Facebook, and have also received a text update, for those who don't already follow us, you can find us by using our user name Urbanite Hair on both Social media platforms.
